Terms of service

These terms govern gottem.dev and the peer agent, operated by Bagelmen LLC ("we", "us"). Create an account or link a device and you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not run a peer.

1. What gottem is

You install an agent on a device you own. Crawl requests from Spider's network exit through your connection, and if you turn the compute lane on, page renders run on your machine in a private browser session. We count what your device serves and credit your account for it. You are not our employee, agent or partner, and nothing here creates any of those.

2. Who can run a peer

  • You are at least the age of majority where you live, and the account details you give us are accurate.
  • You own the device, or the person who owns it has agreed to this.
  • You are allowed to share the connection under your agreement with whoever provides it. Check that before you install. Sharing a line you are not entitled to share is on you, not on us.
  • The connection is a home residential or mobile line. Traffic from data center and cloud networks is refused on both lanes, and a peer that routes through one earns nothing.

3. Your account and your peer key

Keep your credentials and your peer key to yourself, and treat everything done with them as yours. Tell us at support@gottem.dev if you think a key has leaked and we will cut it. One person, one account.

4. What you control

The speed cap, the block list and the two lane switches live in the app on your device, and they are yours to set. Quit the app and sharing stops. Unlink the device from your dashboard and it earns nothing until you link it again. We do not override your cap or your block list.

5. How pay works

  • Bandwidth is counted per gigabyte your device serves. Compute is counted per hour your machine is lent out, measured as machine-active time, so overlapping sessions pay once.
  • Rates differ from peer to peer. Yours rises with the volume your account has served over its life and with the quality your connection scores at the gateway. We do not publish a single rate because there is not one. Your dashboard shows yours.
  • Credits for a month pay out the following month, in US dollars, through Stripe, once your balance clears the minimum. A balance under the minimum carries forward. Your dashboard shows the minimum and where you stand.
  • Tax on what you earn is yours to handle, and Stripe may need tax details from you before it can pay.
  • Rates and the payout minimum can change. We will give reasonable notice through the service or by email.

6. We review earnings before they pay out

A month's credits are checked before the money moves. We can withhold or reverse credits that came from traffic we find to be faked, from an ineligible network, from a device you do not own, or from any attempt to interfere with metering. Where a review goes against you we will tell you what we found, and you can write back at support@gottem.dev.

7. What you may not do

  • Fake traffic, inflate counts, or tamper with the agent, the gateway or the metering in any way.
  • Route the agent through a data center, a cloud host, a VPN or another proxy to disguise where the connection is.
  • Install the agent on devices or connections that are not yours to give, including networks at work, at school or in public places.
  • Open more than one account, or open a new one after we have closed yours.
  • Take apart, republish or resell the agent or the network, or use either one to break the law.

Break this section and we may suspend or close your account and withhold unpaid credits, without notice where waiting would put the network or other people at risk.

8. We cannot promise you volume

A peer earns from what the crawler routes to it, and that depends on demand near you. Some months will be quieter than others, and some connections will see very little. Nothing on this site is a promise of earnings, of a rate, or of how much traffic your device will get.

9. Availability

We work to keep the network up and we do not guarantee it stays up. We may change, pause or retire features, including a lane or a platform build, at any time.

10. Intellectual property

The agent, the service and the gottem name are ours and our licensors'. You get permission to run the agent on your own devices while your account is open, and nothing more. Content the crawler retrieves belongs to whoever owns it, and these terms give you no rights in it.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE AND THE AGENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS WE PAID YOU IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT THAT GAVE RISE TO THE CLAIM.

13. Indemnification

You agree to cover us against claims, losses and expenses that come out of your use of the service, the connection you shared, or your breach of these terms or of the law.

14. Ending it

Unlink your devices and close your account whenever you like. Credits already cleared still pay out. We may suspend or close your access for a breach of these terms or to protect the network. The sections that should outlast the account do, including payment, review, disclaimers, liability and indemnification.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do we will change the last updated date above, and carrying on after a change takes effect means you accept it.
